Gorropu Vintage

The Gole di Gorropu (Gorropu Canyon) are one of the largest and most fantastic karst features of Sardinia’s Supramonte.

The Gole are a canyon formed over thousands of years by the waters of the Rio Flumineddu whose source is on the slopes of the Gennargentu (Funtana Muidorgia, Arcu Correboi) and which flows for 20 km before the start of the Gorropu gorge with its high walls.

This canyon is certainly the first to have been explored on the island: that was in 1967. The canyoning techniques used then to descend such a canyon were very different to those of today. Small boats were used to traverse the pools, today replaced by neoprene wetsuits.

Gorropu Vintage lets you follow the course of the canyon using the old-fashioned material in what is a unique experience. With no mobile phone signal, nor paths, nor people to meet, you feel completely isolated from the world. The overnight bivvy only adds to the thrill!

This outing lasts two days, then, during which you descend 6 km of canyon, make 15 abseils, overcome many small pools and have lots of short sections of climbing over boulders. As well rock arches, huge boulders, surprising vegetation… and lots of adventure!
